? Clients want to change ? There's no such thing as resistance (clients are telling us how they cooperate) ? Focus on present and future ?Change the way people talk about their problems ? Language creates reality ? Change the way people talk: -Problem Talk -Solution Talk ? Therapist and client relationship is key: -A philosophy not a set of techniques ? Sense of hope "cheerleader effect" ? Don't focus on the etiology of the problem: -Solutions are not necessarily related to problems ? Assume the client has strengths, resources ? Only need a small change, which can snowball into a bigger change ? The problem is not occurring all the time
